Kabang: The Hero Dog (update)

Here is an update to the blog I published two months ago (Sorry to all my readers, I didn’t update this as often as I could).

April 13, 2012 – Kabang gave birth to six healthy puppies with the help of Dr. Grace Luz Jeminea, the vet who holds the case of Kabang.

April 22, 2021 – Some animal welfare groups from local and foreign sectors are helping the owner of the dog to get a US visa in order for him to join Kabang for her treatment in California.

April 25, 2012 – Dr. Jeminea gave the bad news that five of the six siblings of Kabang are now dead. She said low production of milk from Kabang’s mammary gland and over protectiveness of her puppies was among the reasons for the alleged death of the puppies. But Rudy Bunggal, the owner of the hero dog, who appeared in great dismay, questioned the City Vet employee why they didn’t’ told him that the puppies have died; they haven’t shown him proof of the bodies of the pups.

Heroic

I saw this news last night from our local TV Station and it says that a “Hero” dog named “Kabang” is in need of a Reconstructive Surgery for her face. The dog saved two children from a speeding motorcycle and that caused the severe damage on the dog’s face. The dog got basic treatment from a City Veterinarians Office but the local government lacks the ability to support and do the reconstructive surgery for the dog. Also Kabang is revealed pregnant after the check up of the vet.

“We would like to request private organizations, maybe they have the necessary expertise and capability to perform the reconstructive surgery for Kabang”, says Dr. Arnedo Agbayani, Chief of Animal Health Division.

Here is the english translation of the news:
Pet dog saves 2 girls but loses her face

I wish that the dog gets the immediate support for its surgery in order for her to get back her normal life as dog. Kabang is a local breed of dog in the Philippines, just like the breed of my dogs.
